Ignite your curiosity, share your expertise

Through the MATH 451-452 Senior Project I-II courses, students majoring in Mathematical Sciences get to work closely with a faculty member on a year-long research project that culminates in a paper and a presentation at a conference. Students typically present their senior project research at the Hudson River Undergraduate Mathematics Conference (HRUMC) in April each year.

Students have also engaged in research with faculty members outside of the required Senior Project courses, and they have presented their research at other meetings such as the AMS-MAA Joint Mathematics Meetings and MAA Mathfest. Most travel costs are typically covered by the department, faculty grants, or sponsoring organizations.
