Western New England University recently hosted a reception for accepted students in the new Doctor of Occupational Therapy Program (OTD). The reception was held on June 3 in the Center for Science and Pharmacy on the University campus.

The OTD program is a three-year program completed over 9 consecutive semesters. With a Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) degree from Western New England University, students become practitioners and transformative leaders equipped with research evidence and global health policy perspectives broadly positioned to: impact populations with or without disabilities; advance community health outcomes; and influence the development of future occupational therapists as members of collaborative interprofessional practice teams in current healthcare settings and emerging practice areas.

“The OTD program is a wonderful complement to our graduate offerings,” said Matt Fox, Director of Graduate Admissions. “It has truly been a pleasure working with the candidates that will be a part of the inaugural cohort. Their enthusiasm for the profession and their excitement to be a part of establishing our program is contagious. We are looking forward to welcoming them to our community this fall.”

The Doctor of Occupation Therapy Program at Western New England University offers an Entry-level Graduate Degree program, meaning that students do not need to earn a master’s degree before applying (a bachelor’s degree is among program requirements). It also means that graduates of this program will be prepared to immediately take on positions of leadership in the field.
