Connecticut Occupational Therapy Association Recognizes Dr. Amy Burton with President's Award

Dr. Amy Burton, OTD, OTR/L, Assistant Professor of Occupational Therapy at Western New England University has been selected as the recipient of the 2020 President's Award from the Connecticut Occupation Therapy Association (ConnOTA). The President's award recognizes a practitioner who exemplifies leadership skills and is focused on the betterment of the organization. The award is not given annually but at the discretion of the ConnOTA President.

"Amy is a wonderful asset to our organization," said ConnOTA President, Judith O. Sheehan, OTR/L. "Her dedication and commitment is outstanding and we are fortunate to have her on our Team!"

ConnOTA is a non-profit volunteer organization whose mission is to protect and promote the advancement of the practice of Occupational Therapy while serving the needs of our members and consumers of our services.

Dr. Burton is active in ConnOTA and serves as the Member for Professional Development, organizing conferences throughout the year. Dr. Burton is currently serving on a committee to rewrite the "Connecticut Scope of Practice" for Occupational Therapy and has co-authored the "Guidelines for Occupational Therapy in Connecticut Schools" with its strategic planning committee.

In addition to her faculty position at Western New England University Burton is a school based occupational therapist and an OT/PT Supervisor. Her research focuses on Inter professional collaboration and training between OT and ABA practitioners.
