The Western New England University School of Law celebrated Constitution Day and Citizenship Day with a presentation by Angelique W. EagleWoman (Wambdi A. Was'teWinyan), director of the Indian Law Program and Professor of Law at Mitchell Hamline School of Law, entitled "The Rule of Law, The Supremacy Clause and Permanent Homelands through Treaties."
Professor Julie Steiner, codirector of the Institute for Legislative and Governmental Affairs, welcomed attendees and shared that Constitution Day and Citizenship Day was established in 1952 by Congress, marking September 17 as a day to commemorate the formation and signing of the U.S. Constitution on September 17, 1787. The day also recognizes all those who have attained American citizenship through the naturalization process.
