Writing Support Services
Peer tutoring
Peer tutoring is a valuable and effective resource for any student who would like help with writing; it is a collaborative effort and is conducted in a friendly, non-threatening, and relaxed environment. Students also have the advantage of working on skills that are pertinent to their specific needs. For example, if a student is having difficulty with thesis development, the tutor will be able to guide and assist with brainstorming or outlining ideas. Individualized writing assistance is the primary focus of all support that is offered by the tutors.
The one-on-one, private, and confidential sessions are facilitated by highly trained tutors. Generally, sessions are between 30 and 60 minutes in length. Students may meet with a tutor on a regular basis, schedule an appointment when needed, or take advantage of walk-in tutoring services.
